Leadership development and mentorship programs
I co-created a design management program for individuals pursuing a leadership path in design.

I have also developed external programs aimed at recruiting top talent into the organization, with great success
Throughout my career, I’ve mentored junior designers and have been actively involved in recruitment efforts

Achievements
Our one-year management program led to 3 out of 8 designers being promoted to lead positions
The design management program included both voluntary and selected participants. Conducted over the course of one year, it produced outstanding results within the team.
Our external recruitment program successfully resulted in 2 graduates joining the team.
We regularly run an external program to tap into talent outside the organization. In 2024, I took the initiative to directly reach out to universities, prioritizing direct access to top talent.
I had the privilege of mentoring exceptionally talented designers and watching them grow in their careers
I’ve had the privilege of mentoring truly amazing designers, many of whom still reach out today, even after leaving the organization. I believe mentoring is a lifelong commitment and an opportunity to pay it forward.
The Challenge
We weren’t generating enough interest or building a strong pipeline for management roles within the organization. While recruiting externally can be an option, it often comes with challenges like cultural misalignments. This led to the creation of our Design Management Program.

On another front, we recognized that many students aren't fully aware of UX design as a career path. With interest and awareness of UX/UI design still growing within the industry, attracting high-performing graduates is a challenge. This is why we launched the Absa Design Hackathon program, aimed at drawing in top talent.

Whats next
Mentoring and nurturing talent is a lifelong journey that never truly stops. I’m selective about who I personally mentor, as it often becomes a long-term relationship. However, I remain actively involved in programs within the organization that focus on upskilling and developing talent.
